British Values
The “Fundamental British Values” are:
Democracy
Rule of law
Individual liberty
Mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
At Guiseley Primary School, these values are reinforced regularly and taught through assemblies, our whole school ‘Rainbow code of conduct’ and our curriculum. In PSHE children will learn about each of these values through the “Identity, society and equality” strand of learning, which is taught discretely in each year from Year 1 to Year 6. These values are also taught through other areas of the curriculum such as RE, History and Geography. In Early Years all children are taught to respect and tolerate each others opinions and beliefs through circle times and through their daily interactions. They learn basic rules for happiness and safety and are encouraged to use their voices to communicate with each other successfully in their play.
