Attendance and Punctuality 

Good attendance and punctuality are closely correlated to good outcomes for children. 

At the end of primary school those children who don’t achieve the expected standard in reading, writing and maths miss on average four more days each school year than those that achieve the expected standard.

Persistent Absence is below 90% attendance. On average 84% of Key Stage 2 pupils who have 100% attendance achieve the expected standard, compared to 40% of pupils who are persistently absent across the key stage.

Good attendance is essential for more than just attainment:

Regular school attendance can facilitate positive peer relationships, which is a protective factor for mental health and wellbeing too.
