Autumn 1
What a great half term we have had in Chevin, Esholt and Wharfe classes. The children have settled extremely well into their new classrooms.
They have enjoyed lots of learning including Art lessons focusing on cubism and creating work inspired by Pablo Picasso. We mixed coloured and drew shapes to create some portraits in a cubism style. I'm sure you'll agree that they have done their very best. We also enjoyed our Art week; focusing on sustainability. Years 1 and 2 used recycled materials to create some fantastic pieces and were extremely proud to show their families at our 'Fantastic Finish'.
In History, we have learnt about what life was like in the past for our parents/grandparents and how fashion, food and vehicles have changed in the last 70 years. Mrs Sharpe came and spoke to the children about her experiences when she was at school. The children were fascinated!
We have used lots of equipment in class to support our work in mathematics on place value.
Staff have been impressed by the control and coordination of the majority of children in PE lessons. We have some fantastic gymnasts that are extremely good at holding their balances!
We have ended the half term with an incredible Crazy Hair Day. Our families have really dazzled us with the creative styles that have come into school. Thank you for embracing these special days for our children. It has been a lot of fun!
